The Egyptian composer Emad El-Rasheedy
has written the music for more than 20 musicals, radio and television drama, and many songs for the top Egyptian singers.
Besides Arabic music, he has studied the theory of music at Ealing University, Thames Valley College of Music, London. He teaches the theory of music at the Artistic Creation Centre at the Egyptian Opera House.
This CD is an introduction to the theory of arabic music in a simplified way, highlighting the most common scales (maqamat) with samples of each. It also includes music composed by Emad El-Rasheedy.
