What the CD says:
Mahmoud Fadl - The Nubian...a lover of the Nile who drums to it throughout his life.
Since time immemorial, the Nile has been the subject of endless legends and myths and object of fascination and artistical inspiration. The rhythm of life can be heard all along its banks. A rhythm of life can be heard all along its banks. A rhythm accompanied by words, a rhythm evolving into songs, rhythms without which dance could not exist.
The Drummers of the Nile take us on a voyage of discovery along the mother of all rivers. This musical journey leads us from the Nubian desert to Mohammed Ali Street in Cairo, from celebration and party to revolt and pain.
In this original Piranha recording, Salamat director Mahmoud Fadl has managed to complete one of the assignments he had always yearned to accomplish - to invite his friends and together with them paint an authentic musical landscape of the abundance of cultures and people along the Nile, using the very same rhythms that have followed them since birth, rhythms that accentuate their every gesture and articulate their innermost feelings.
